About Nexscript

Independent games journalism · Online, worldwide

Nexscript is a magazine about the game industry, made by people who got tired of coverage that stops at the trailer. We report on the studios, releases, culture and business behind the games — and we say what we think.

We started Nexscript because the games press had split in two: breathless launch hype on one side, and dry earnings recaps on the other. Neither told you how a game actually got made, why a studio folded, or what a delisting really costs the people who loved it. We wanted the middle — the reported, opinionated middle — and nobody was filling it the way we wanted to read it.

What we do

Four desks, one point of view. Releases covers what shipped and whether it earned the noise. Studios follows the teams — how they hire, how they work, how they survive. Culture takes fandom, preservation and the arguments that shape the medium seriously. Business reads the deals and the layoffs so you don't have to squint at a slide deck. Every piece carries a byline and a date, because accountability is the whole job.

How we stay honest

Insider memberships and a free newsletter pay for the reporting — not ad networks tracking you across the web. That's a deliberate choice. When readers fund the work, the work answers to readers. We take no free trips we don't disclose, we correct mistakes in public, and we keep opinion clearly labelled as opinion.

Where we are

We're an online newsroom with a rotating bench of contributors around the world. We publish in English for a global audience, sceptical of hype, curious about craft, allergic to press-release prose.

Say hello

Pitches, tips, corrections and reader mail all go to [email protected]. We reply within one working day. If you value the reporting, the best thing you can do is become an Insider — it's what keeps the lights on and the free side open.
